We stopped in Austin, Texas to visit friends who recently moved from Boston, and to prepare ourselves for our journey into Mexico. Happily, we discovered that there is climbing right in Austin! We enjoyed bolted limestone at the Barton Creek Greenbelt less than 15 minutes away from our friend’s apartment. It was an excellent weekend hanging out with JP and Corinne, climbing rocks, eating barbecue, and exploring downtown Austin.

Corinne finishes up a route at the Barton Creek Greenbelt, a limestone sport climbing area super convenient to Austin.

Saturday night in downtown Austin searching for live music. We found a nice mix of death metal and country.
Then it was time to prepare for the drive to Mexico. With all our paperwork and plans sorted we decided to get Boris the alignment he so desperately needed. After shopping around for alignment shops we found a guy to get it done, he also happened to be a climber! With Boris finally driving straight, Steve noticed the battery voltage indicator acting funny so we went back to the mechanic, John, for some help. He kindly confirmed Steve’s suspicion that the alternator was on its way out. With that we bought a new one and Steve had it changed out in 20 minutes. A great catch before crossing the border!
Grammy here! Glad I logged on for the new highlights on your southern leg. I have only gotten started (Austin, Tx) so I want to continue. Keep safe.
Love, Grammy
